Eclipse theatre company ltd is the only black-led national touring company delivering an annual middle-scale tour to regional theatres.

Artistic Director – Dawn Walton

Dawn Walton began her directing career at the Royal Court Theatre, going on to be awarded the first Jerwood Young Director’s Award at the Young Vic. After a year as Acting Head of Studio-National Theatre Dawn was appointed the Artistic Director of eclipse theatre in 2008.

Previous productions Include, For eclipse theatre: The Hounding Of David Oluwale (TMA: Best Director nomination); Michael X. For Royal Court Theatre: Oxford Street (Olivier Awards Nomination); 93.2fm; Drag-On; The Shining. For Sheffield Theatres: There’s Only One Wayne Matthews. For Young Vic Theatre: Winners; The Blacks. Karena Johnson (Chair) is  CEO/Artistic Director of The BROAWAY in Barking.

She has been recognised with a “Highly Commended Business person of the year Barking and Dagenham” the theatre won the a national Arts and Business award and was a special nomination for a TMA award “for theatre with cojones”

Karena has worked for over a decade as a theatre director, producer and facilitator of emerging artists. Karena’s pioneering career includes being Acting Artistic Director of Contact Theatre in Manchester, Artistic Director of touring theatre company Kushite and five years as Head of Theatre Programming at Oval House theatre. Her work at Oval House was recognised when the theatre was awarded the diversity award for programming and audience development. Karena has also been an Associate at Theatre Royal Stratford East, Nottingham Playhouse and NOW festival.

 

Paula Rabbitt: Head of Press at West Yorkshire Playhouse

She has been a member of the Playhouse’s communications team since March 2007 previously holding the position of Senior Press officer. In the past Paula worked as freelance marketing and press officer in Scotland working regularly with companies such as Vanishing Point and Suspect Culture. Paula has a post graduate diploma in Marketing from Strathclyde University and a degree in Theatre and Philosophy from the University of Glasgow.

Chanelle Newman: Founder/General Manager The Hip Hop Shakespeare Co.

Artist Management / Consultant at Illa State Records Chanelle has an extensive background in both the entertainment & legal industries and previously worked for Sony Music Entertainment in the Legal Department
