Eclipse theatre company ltd is the only black-led national touring company delivering an annual middle-scale tour to regional theatres.

Mission

* To raise the profile of Black British theatre and practitioners by producing high quality middle-scale tours for Regional    Theatre

* To broaden the diversity of work on offer for audiences in Regional Theatre.

* To develop and retain new audiences for Black British Theatre. (Join up the diaspora of new audiences)

* To influence and instigate change that will lead to a more diverse and equitable theatrical landscape.

Aims

To produce high quality productions

• Telling stories from the Black experience to create new work that enriches the cannon of British theatre. Creating productions that are consistently high quality.

Touring nationally

• To establish a large touring network of middle scale venues who offer a more diverse programme of work for their audiences.

Developing partnerships

• Since its inception Eclipse has formed partnerships with regional theatres that share our core values, i.e. venues that take a long term view of diverse programming and audience development. We value those relationships and aim to continue them whilst increasing the number of venues.

Developing audiences

• Joining up the ‘diaspora of new audiences’ by initiating an audience development framework that is a model of good practice used repeatedly throughout the industry. Encouraging participation and engagement in the arts that inspires the next generation of audiences and artists.

Opportunities

• Providing employment opportunities for skilled and experienced Black artists and practitioners.

Diversity

• To raise the profile of Black theatre makers, diversifying the workforce of British theatre. All of Eclipse’s work is underpinned with an exploration of diversity.
